  • Free eye test per member every 24 months
  • Single vision lenses & frame per member every 24 months

Level 2

  • All Level 1 benefits
  • Upgrades single vision lenses to bifocal lenses

Level 3

  • All Level 2 benefits
  • Choose glasses or 4 packs of contact lenses up to R350 each per member every 24 months

What is Covered?

The Optometry benefit lets you test your eyes and get glasses or contact lenses every 24 months for each member, depending on the benefit level you have chosen.

  • Level 1 supports single vision lenses
  • Level 2 supports bifocal lenses
  • Level 3 support 4 packs of contact lenses up to R350 each

Each pack of contact lenses should be enough to last a member 6 months. 4 of them should last you 24 months.

What Frames can I Get?

The frames available on the benefit are on what is known as PPN level 1. Your Spec-Savers optometrist will show you what is available.

What is the Optometry benefit waiting period?

The waiting period on the Optometry Benefit is 12 months.

This means that after the first 12 months of your policy's inception, you can go for an eye test and optionally get glasses or contact lenses.

Where I can find the network optometrists?

The Network page has all the information needed to find a provider on the network. The benefit is available through Spec-Savers nationwide.

How are claims paid?

Claims are paid directly to the medical providers. You can find all the details on our claims page.

What are the age limits?

All new members joining a policy must be younger than 65 years on date of application.

Child dependants must be younger than 21 years before they will need to start their own policy.

However, if your child is still a registered full-time student and unmarried, then they may stay on the policy as a child dependant until they turn 26.

How many people can be on a policy?

Episodic health insurance policies can include:
